About Candidate Filing
All candidates seeking a place on the 2012 Republican Primary ballot in Texas must file with either the Republican Party of Texas (RPT) or their local county Republican Party, depending on the office they seek. The initial federal court-ordered candidate filing period for 2012 began November 28, 2011 and ended on December 19, 2011 at 6:00 p.m.. Candidate filing re-opened for ALL positions on the ballot on March 2, 2012 and ends on March 9, 2012 at 6:00 p.m..
All filing applications are subject to formal review and approval by the filing authority, so our candidate list may be revised as necessary. Candidates who file with their local Republican Party will be listed on this website as soon as the County Chair reports the filing to the RPT. This delay could mean that the “Date Filed” field on our interactive candidate directory may be later than the date a candidate actually filed.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the vast number of judicial and local offices that will be on the 2012 ballot, the interactive candidate directory on this site contains only candidates running for offices down to the State Representative level according to ballot order. A complete list of all candidates who filed for any position in the state of Texas, including judicial and local candidates, will be compiled throughout the filing period and made available on our downloads page—provided the local county parties have reported this information to the RPT.
If you notice any missing campaign website, Facebook or Twitter links for a candidate in our directory, please let us know by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “Candidate Info”.
